Ruched Halter Top

I stole Hubby's big tshirt and made something for myself.

It is made basically by using the body of his shirt, adding a casing and elastic at bust, then adding a long strip gathered at both sides. (Sorry about the scary white Canadian-winter arms.) I posted an actual tutorial here on my blog if you'd like to make your own.

Dress & Cardi

Hello my people!! I haven't posted for a while, too busy fluffing about!. Have a whole heap of half finished bits and pieces and a HUGE stash of op shop finds waiting to be "reconstructed/deconstructed.

The crochet top (now cardi) is in the yummiest shade of cranberry. I cut it down the front and added a mens paisley tie that ive zigzaged and rouched till it made a lovely frilly type edge on the cardi. The photo isnt much chop coz my husband reluctantly took the photo (hes not talking to me because i got grumpy at him..............long story, we wont go there!!)

Camo shirt with Ruffles

Last Wednesday I made this.

Today I spiced it up and made it even more girly!

I cut strips out of the sleeves and made them about 1.5" wide.

Used a straight stitch, but did NOT backstich so I could ruffle the strips.

I pinned it to the shirt

Then sewed it down and BACK stiched so my hardwork didn't come undone!

My model was taking a nap so I couldn't put it on her :o)

Hello Again!

It is such a beautiful day here in Ontario, it seems a shame to be inside. But... the siren call of my sewing machine had to be answered. I'm not posting what I made today, because I still need to take pics! Instead I'll show you what I made on the weekend. I wanted a light cardigan for the summer months. I had this very fine tee shirt fabric in my stash, the colour is beautiful, a very light aqua. I also had the sequin trim on hand and it matches perfectly! Wow. A Bunch Of Shorts & Three New Tops

I love making pants and shorts for Charlotte from old or worn pairs of pants. These shorts were all made from my old pairs of pants/jeans and some that were given to me by friends.


I also found some really cute fabric for summer tops. I wasn't sure which pattern I would use when I bought them, but I knew that they would look cute on Charlotte. I ended up using Simplicity 3513, View B. It's a really easy to sew pattern and makes for a really comfy and cute basic top for summer.


Lastly is a top made from a vintage silk dress that I found in a thrift store a few months back. I wasn't sure what it would turn into, but I knew that I had to buy it.

I modified McCall's 9369, View H. i was really worried about sewing with the silk because I'd never sewn with such a slippy fabric before. Walking foot to the rescue. It was so easy that I didn't even swear once.

Shirt Recon

THis was a dress with a large ruffle on the bottom and long puffy sleeves. It was all a little much going on really, so i whipped off the ruffle and sleeves and bias binded the bottom and sleeve edges, the front is a LITTLE revealing so definitely needs some sort of slip or singlet under it. Kinda cute over jeans i thought. You cant really see by the photos but it has tiny clusters of flowers on it in pinks,mustard andwatermelon with green leaves.

Nanny McPhee Blouse

I had this red top/cardi and after watching Nanny McPhee i decided it needed a little sleeve action! love the look of Maggie Gyllenhaals character, mixing patterns and flowers. a little 1940s and a little country chick!!!, hoping Ewin McGregor will appear over the hill in his army uniform with open arms!!! The sleeves are made from a velvet thats been lined so 'stiffish' and then i lined it with spot fabric aswell.

These are my latest finished garments. Top made from remnants and curtain pants. Yes, I used draperies. They were sunfaded red. I dyed them purple and then made the pants.

Vest Dress

This was a vest and long skirt with bottom frill and now a VESTDRESS with chenelle ribbon around join and added frock garnish of a detachable doiley flower. xx kel
